"It's Just A Blog" First Post Assignment

It's Just A Blog!!!!
I've had a blog for about 2 years now and it's just your normal fashion, celebrity gossip, black/woman empowerment blog, but now that I am getting deeper and deeper into the Public Relations world the word "blog" just keeps on coming up. I personally think blogs are good for PR practitioners to receive real feedback from people, but I think that at the end of the day you don't know who these people are, where they live, what their educational background is, you don't even know if they are the audience or public you want to reach in the first place... so how much value should you put to those comments and what do PR practitioners really gain from blogs.
Pros of Blogging
Blogs can say exactly what a PR practitioner wants them to say!
Blogs can bring in revenue!
Blogs are free!
Blogs can be creative fun and interactive.
Blogs can reach a huge number of people (it's the WORLD wide web lol)

Cons of Blogging
One mistake on a blog can be on your permanent Internet resume
A controversial comment from somebody can spark the same flame in another persons head
Audience Interpretation of the blog may not be the desired interpretation
Is blogging just a fad and will it eventually fade away?
People may not think a PR blog is as credible as more traditional PR tactics
